The people we surround ourselves with either raise or lower our standards. They either help us to become the best version of ourselves or encourage us to become the lesser versions of ourselves. We become like our friends. No man becomes great on his own. No woman becomes great on her own. The people around them help to make them great.

We all need people in our lives who raise our standards, reminds us of our essential purpose, and challenge us to become the best version of ourselves.

And then you meet someone who is unlike any other, and it’s so clear that the two of you, on some level belong together as lovers, or as friends, or family, or as something entirely different you just work, whether you understand one another or you’re in love or you’re partners in crime. From the moment you start talking to this person you feel that you want him/her around. We meet these people throughout our life, out of nowhere, under the strangest circumstances, and they help you feel alive.

It’s funny that you these people and they make you laugh and they give you hope and they make you realize that there is so much more to life and when you’re with them you forget how empty you felt before. You could talk to this person for hours and never get bored. You could tell them things and they won’t judge you. And, you feel like you don’t ever want to let them go because a wise man once said that there is something beyond forever which is “even longer”.

I don’t know if that makes me believe in coincidence, or fate, or sheer blind luck, but it definitely makes me believe in something because the most ordinary things could be made extraordinary simply by doing them with the right people.

And if you want to see a wonderful life — Everyday, write down the best thing that’s happened to you in a notebook. Read it back, you’ll see it’s a wonderful life.
